About our story
Making books and stories is Miranda’s second career. Having been a successful international fashion designer for many years, she is now concentrating on her first love - illustration.
The Amazing Roboteam: Robot Parts and Naughty Sheep is the first in a series that will explore a range of educational, social and emotional issues in an accessible and engaging story format. These are current issues that parents or teachers may wish to explore with children between 5 and 8 years or with individual needs.
A group of animal friends, each with unique differences, some gained through accidents, some born that way, head to the city to see Dr Ablemaker. Genius, robot scientist, cyber medic and all round lovely person, builds them a robot eye, a drone wing, a bionic ear and a FeelBot.
Digidog's feelbot helps him detect and identify emotions with amazing accuracy. Hallie can see for miles, Paquita hears everything and Enzo can finally fly in a straight line! They become an unstoppable force for good. Along with Mousey and his little furry heart, who has learned the power of redemption through being truly sorry. They are making the world a better and more forgiving place.
A wonderful resource for 5-8 year olds, it encourages empathy, understanding and how to move through conflict. It places responsibility for unkindness on the perpetrator, emphasising the importance of remorse for social acceptance and reconciliation. It encourages children to see the world from different perspectives, changing the narrative from underdog to hero, from different to equal.

"This is such a kind and much-needed story that explains that our "flaws" are actually what make us special. ..I felt so bad for Paquita when the farmer called her "useless," but I loved how quickly her friends supported her and decided to go to the city to see Doctor Ablemaker for some "upgrades"— it's a brilliant metaphor for the importance of seeking help and support. What truly captivated me were the illustrations by Miranda Pothecary. They are simply magical and fit the story perfectly. The pictures were drawn by hand with pencils, which gives the book incredible warmth and cosiness. Every character is so expressive: you can see the kindness in Hallie's eyes and the determination in Paquita. Miranda's handmade style makes even the robots and "upgrades" feel like part of a fairy tale, rather than something cold and technical.
